Joint NCJC/TBS Yom Hashoah Commemoration - 4/7/21, 7:30 PM

TBS joins NCJC in a Yom Hashoah commemoration that begins on Wednesday evening with a short service of remembrance following Mincha/Ma’ariv at 7:30 outside the NCJC Holocaust Memorial Garden. The minyan will also take place over zoom (click here).

· Thursday morning the 8:00 am minyan will conclude with additional appropriate readings and a study of responsa literature from the Holocaust. The minyan will also take place over zoom (click here).

· Reading of the names from the NCJC & TBS Shoah Scrolls will begin at 10:30 am from the Langerman Sanctuary. This will continue throughout the day and is available to view via Facebook Live. For more information or to sign up to read names, contact Lynne Diwinsky.

· From 12:00-1:00 Rabbi Berkman will discuss excerpts from Holocaust scholar, Yaffa Eliach’s classic Hasidic Tales of the Holocaust, a study of Holocaust narratives gleaned from hundreds of interviews with survivors of the Shoah. Yaffa Eliach was the NCJC Scholar in residence for Shabbat Kallah in 1998. To join the class, click here.

· From 1:30-2:30, Rabbi Leiken will lead a discussion on Rav Joseph Soloveitchik’s seminal Kol Dodi Dofek, delivered as a speech to Yeshiva Univeisity students on Yom Ha’atzma’ut in 1956. A classic text of religious Zionism, Kol Dodi Dofek offers Soloveitchik’s view of evil and the role of the Jewish people in the wake of the Shoah.
